POKOTABI / Yakiniku Spoon
焼肉スプーン
Akasaka Korean dining spot Yakiniku Spoon serves skin-on samgyeopsal grilled crisp, ox-bone ttaro-gukbap, sundubu, and homestyle drinking fare late into the night.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
When an order of thick-cut, skin-on samgyeopsal arrives at the table, it is grilled until the rind turns crisp and golden, highlighting both the sweetness of the pork and the richness of its fat. Wrapping the hot pork in fresh sanchu lettuce with sliced garlic and kimchi creates a hearty combination of crunch, spice, and savoury depth. Guests often pair spicy-sweet stir-fried squid with bowls of rice or drafts of makgeolli, before winding down with ttaro-gukbap—a mild ox-bone broth containing tender simmered beef that settles the palate.
Beyond its pork and beef offerings, Yakiniku Spoon prepares a broad selection of homestyle Korean staples. The soft, spicy sundubu-jjigae with silk tofu and the deep, restorative broth of haejang-guk work equally well as main dishes or as comforting bowls after drinks. Grilled Korean eel, chewy sundae (blood sausage), and Korean-style pork cutlets round out a menu reminiscent of a bustling Korean drinking tavern.
The compact dining room contains just a handful of tables and operates from 17:00 in the evening until 5:00 the following morning (closed Sundays). Given the limited seating and steady late-night trade, booking ahead is recommended when planning a meal with a group.
